L929 (Murine Fibrosarcoma Cells) |
L929 is derived from mouse connective tissue fibroblast. The line is used to assay TNF-alpha and TNF-beta. Treating L929 with TNF initiates apoptosis and results in cell death. Some L929 subclones have been created that allows detection of TNF at concentrations of approximately 30 pmol/L. L929 cells are 10 times more sensitive to TNF mediated cytotoxicity in the presence of lithium chloride. L929 cells are deficient in known cell-cell adhesion molecules. These cells also secrete a neurotrophic factor closely related to the beta subunit of NGF. In addition, L929 have been found to secrete a factor that promotes the differentiation of porcine peripheral blood mononuclear cells into macrophages and monocytes. L929 cells secrete a chemotactic factor specific for monocytes as well as an uncharacterized factor that promotes the growth of a large variety of cell lines. L929 cells proliferate to a variety of growth factors, including IL2, IL3, G-CSF, GM-CSF, and M-CSF.

Altogen Research Services |
Altogen Custom Services provide specialized biotechnology and pharmaceutical services, including - generation of stable cell lines, RNA Interference (RNAi) services, assay development, screening and transfection services. Generation of stably-expressing cancer cell lines and primary cells can be very expensive and time-consuming. Altogen Services offers generation of stable cell lines by transforming the cell line of choice to stably express gene of interest or shRNA-encoding construct. Cloning and shRNA expression services are available.
